A Message From the LACS School Board

July 14, 2021

Dear LACS Parents and Families,

Cathy Robinson has announced that she is resigning, effective July 14th. Her decision to resign is a surprise and a big loss for all of us. We expected Cathy to continue at LACS for years to come. Last year was a year of challenges. While these various difficulties put a stress on the system, Cathy, and the rest of the school, she had our full support in leading staff, daily operations, and strategic vision. The school board has worked with Cathy over the course of the past two weeks since she submitted her resignation to retain her, but her decision is firm.

We are saddened by this news. But despite this change, the School Board is still very optimistic for the upcoming school year because we have great momentum going into the Fall with increasing enrollment and stable financial outlook to support our continuing vision. LACS has always been and will continue to be an important ministry of BCC. We are excited to welcome back all of our students, teachers, and new staff and students who will be joining the LACS family in the Fall.

We want to take this time to express our deep gratitude to Cathy for her faithful and tireless service to LACS for over 29 years. For all those years, Cathy has been a wonderful advocate for our students. She has held many different positions here, but regardless of her title, she has fought hard to get each child in a position to learn and grow in a safe and loving environment. She has done the same for our teachers; advocating, supporting and praying alongside them. God has used LACS to help so many children grow in their love and knowledge of Him, and Cathy has partnered with God in that work. She has supported teachers, and cared for students as if they were her own. Her work here and her vision for LACS will have a lasting effect for years to come. Her fingerprints are all over everything that is great about LACS. Cathy will leave an amazing legacy at LACS. She is loved and will be greatly missed.

Regarding the staffing plan, we are asking Lizette Hibbert to continue her role as Assistant Head of Schools, working in partnership with the School Board to help fill in some of the responsibilities that Cathy had, and to identify additional support to the staff as needed. In parallel, we will also be conducting a national search for a new head of schools. We recognize the need to strengthen our LAD community and have already started these discussions with Lizette on resources and staffing.

We appreciate each of our teachers so much for all that they have contributed to the School during COVID, the tremendous effort they have put in for the ACSI and WASC accreditation, and selfless love and care for our students and families. Thank you for your support to our teachers.

We recognize this is a very difficult and unexpected challenge, but God has been faithful, as we have observed His work during the pandemic. Through God’s continued faithfulness and each of your support we will be able to successfully navigate through this time and do great things for His ministry.

Please join us in thanking and praying for Cathy, Lizette, and the faculty as we navigate through this change.

With Gratitude & Blessings,
LACS School Board
