Brenda Allen, WorldVenture
Just wanted to let you know that WorldVenture leadership has made a hard decision for me! The EBOLA crisis with my role as a health care worker in Guinea has been deemed too great a risk for me to return to Guinea right now.
I will depart for Mali, Africa this Tuesday, September 30th. After getting a visa, I will be continuing from Bamako Mali onto Ferkessedougou, Cote d’Ivoire. I worked in Cote d’Ivoire for a dozen years so I have many long term relationships there. I will live and work at the Baptist Mission Hospital for a season. I don’t know yet what will be the best way for me to come alongside the national staff. Please pray for me in my new role for this next season of living.
It is my heart’s decision to return to Guinea at the earliest possible time. I do not know that timetable but God does. It seems like such a disruption to life and ministry. My heart is heavy! A friend reminded me recently the interruptions are opportunities for God to work in new ways. I studied Jonah a year or so ago that was the theme too. I need to remember that!
I would ask for prayer for my home helper HAWA who has very advanced cancer. I long to be with her and also for her to know the Savior. I am so grateful for my housemate Sue who is in Kankan and able to walk alongside her.
