You may have heard the news about the devastating earthquake in Ecuador.  The 7.8 quake hit Saturday evening, April 16.  The epicenter was located along the northern pacific coast, near the town of Pedernales.  At least 659 people were killed in the quake, and many more were injured.  The cities of Manta and Manabí received the most damage.  Marcy and I thank the Lord that we were able to speak with several of our friends via Skype.  Some of you have asked about our home that is located in downtown Guayaquil.  Thankfully, it appears to be fine.  However a major overpass a couple miles from our home collapsed, killing a driver and passenger.  Thank you to the many of you who have already written to let us know that you are praying for the survivors and for the country as it begins a difficult process of recovery and rebuilding.

Marcy and I have been on Home Ministry Assignment in California since October of last year.  During our time in Silicon Valley were able to strengthen our ties with the churches and friends that support the work of Avant Ministries in Ecuador. We were blessed to stay in the homes of family and friends, attend Bible studies and meet with missions team leaders.

Marcy and I are presently at the Avant Ministries guest house in Kansas City Mo, on our way to Bucks County Pennsylvania.  Our trip began on April 19, and along the way we made stops in Castle Rock Colorado, and in Weeping Water Nebraska.  During our stay at Avant we are meeting with the mission’s US staff, and are participating in a small group marriage seminar.

Please be in prayer as we continue our journey east beginning on Friday April 6. Lord willing, we will be visiting Calvary Church of Bristol Pa April 8-18.  Later in the month we hope to visit with supporters and family in Virginia before returning to the Midwest in June.
