Paul and Janie Hutton, Missions Door
Leaving winter behind in Pennsylvania, our team arrived in La Esperanza, Honduras on March 1st. Our project site in the nearby Lenca Indian village of Las Mesas sits at an elevation of 5,700 feet. The sky was clear-blue with the temperature in the mid-seventies. It was most inviting.
Our short-term team of nine, including our son-in-law Bill, on furlough from Senegal, was sent by the Community Church of Garden Spot Village and Missions Door. We went to help the Lenca with their church construction. They had dug the footing and started laying block. We worked hard to keep up.
Our team also sponsored a children’s program in the local school. By the third day we had over 80 children listening to the Bible stories, memorizing verses, singing choruses, working on the craft projects and jumping ropes.
Preparing pastors and leaders for the 28 church plants is key to church growth, so our team helped with a discipleship seminar. Pastor Chet from the Community Church, along with Honduran missionaries Erick and Arnold, taught for the two-day conference.
We asked and you prayed. Thank you! We are grateful to the Lord for a safe and effective trip. The village’s permission to build came just in time. We were blessed by the love and care and good fellowship with the Hondurans. For Paul’s 7-minute video click on the link or enter in your browser: https://vimeo.com/162014072
