Paul and Janie Hutton, Missions Door
Garden Spot Village Short-Term Missions Team with Missions Door
To the Lenca Indian ministry in western Honduras March 1 -11, 2016
Praise the Lord for the nine people going to Honduras to help the Lenca Indians with their church construction project, a children’s program and a seminar for the pastors. Pray for good comradery for our diverse team.
Pray for our team: Chaplain Chet, Ethan (Chet’s son), John Clough, Jim Shuman, Martin Murillo, Paul Hutton, Bill McComb (Paul’s son-in-law), Caralee Capone (future resident) and Donna Moss (Yoamy Sanchez’ friend from Rhode Island). Pray that each one’s spiritual gifts and talents will be exactly what is needed.
Pray for our Honduran missionaries Erick and Yoamy Sanchez who are organizing the project and setting up all the details to receive us. We fly into San Pedro Sula at 2 PM on March 1st and take a three-hour bus ride to La Esperanza. We will stay at the hotel La Esperanza and ride out to the work site each day.
Pray for their fellow missionaries Jorge and Nolvia Lagos and Isaias and Olga Cantarero. Jorge and Nolvia will help with the project and we will be meeting Isaias and Olga who work about 45 minutes away.
Pray for our team as we organize and purchase the materials for the children’s program. Our team will help with crafts and games and perhaps the puppets, but the local ladies will be presenting the Bible stories for the kids. Pray for them as they prepare and present the Bible stories.
Pray for Pastor Chet and Martin Murillo. Chet will be teaching discipleship in a seminar for 25 to 30 pastors, most of who will be coming in from their mountain villages for the two-day program.
Pray for Martin Murillo who will translate for Chet. Martin is originally from Honduras but lives now in New Holland and leads worship at the Spanish Mennonite Church. Thank the Lord for Martin’s desire to serve.
There was some local resistance in Las Mesas to acquiring the church property. Praise the Lord with us that the community finally gave their approval.
Pray for all the travel. Pray for good weather as we take the bus to BWI in Baltimore at 2 AM. Pray for smooth sailing through TSA at the airport, making connections in Miami, clearing immigration and customs in San Pedro Sula, our 3-hour bus ride to La Esperanza followed by dinner and a good night’s sleep before we dive in on Wednesday Mar 2.
Pray that we will be true servants to the Lenca Indians.
Thank you for praying.
