Eriko and Jeweliann Graduate from Harvard
On May 29, Eriko graduated from the Harvard School of Education with a masters of Education in Human Development and Psychology.  Jeweliann graduated on the same day with her bachelor’s in English and East Asian Studies.  She will lead a student ministry team to Ishinomaki, Japan this summer and return to Boston in the fall.

Christine Graduates from Gordon
We are very proud of our Christine who graduated from Gordon College on May 17th with her bachelor’s degree in Music.  She will move to Japan with us June 6th.

Fresh Commission
Seven supporting churches were represented at our Fresh Commission Service on May 24th.  Dr. Bob Reichert, retired pastor from First Baptist Church of Turlock, gave a message of exhortation to us as we prepare to return; Mark Averill, Worship Pastor at Westgate Church played the piano; Elliot Sands, Missions Pastor at Church on the Hill, (our home church) led the service and Benjy and Sharon Doi from Morgan Hill Bible Church, shared about their Japan ministry.  It was a wonderful send off to the new adventures that await us in Japan.

Departing For Japan
We are excited to announce that we depart for Sendai, Japan on June 6th!  We are waiting to hear from four churches concerning support, but we have been given clearance to depart by our sending agency, SIM.  Please pray for:

  1.  Over 200,000 people in the Tohoku region still in temporary housing.
  2.  The remainder of our support.
  3.  Housing in Sendai.
  4. Ministry opportunities:  John preaching twice in July, Disaster Response Chaplaincy meetings in June, and Eriko making contacts for church planting research in the Tohoku.
