Compassion Weekend — October 15 & 16

Posted in: Upcoming Events

Bridges has the opportunity to join with numerous faith communities and civic organizations to kick off “Compassion Week.” Compassion Week brings people of all ages and abilities together for a week in October to build a strong, compassionate, and empathetic community. Through volunteer opportunities, participants expand their understanding of local and global needs by engaging in acts of service. Since its inception in 2013, more than 18,000 volunteers have participated in Compassion Week activities, supporting over 85 nonprofits.

Bridges is participating in two ways:

  1. Assembling hygiene kits for the homeless. We need at least 10 people to help at the Los Altos Community Foundation on Sat., Oct. 15, 10:00am to 12:00pm. To sign up, contact Kathy Spillar in the church office:
  2. Making greeting cards for active military members. Right after the worship service on Oct. 16, you can make a card before you go home–or stay for a while, enjoy some refreshments, and make a handful of cards. This is a great activity for people of all ages and abilities! The cards go to Operation Gratitude, which includes the cards in their care packages.
