Letter from the BCC Elder Board – Nov. 5, 2020

Dear Bridges family,

The BCC Elder Board met to review the input and discussion from the many meetings the congregation had with Pastor Dan and confirmed the plan to present Dan for a confirmation vote as Lead Pastor. We are excited about the goals of building community within the church, growing the church by reaching out to our community in the name of Christ, and having an impact on the world through continued support of our missionaries.

The meetings with Dan in October were a wonderful chance to get to know him better, and also identified questions many of you had about different areas of the church. If Dan is confirmed, the Board will work on a ministry plan with Dan during the first 60 days to determine priorities and plans before making changes such as new hires. Pastor Dave will continue to be associated with the church as a Pastoral Coach. His extensive experience in ministry and at Bridges will make him particularly helpful over the next 12 months to ensure a smooth transition.

Voting Process

We will start the voting process this coming Sunday, November 15 and it will continue through Wednesday, November 18. On November 15, you will be able to vote in person at the church both before the service and after the service up until 1:00pm. Even if you do not attend the live service that morning, you can stop by before or after the service to vote. The names of those who vote in person will be signed off on our list of members and regular attenders as their ballots are turned in. If you do not vote in person on November 15, those who are on our email list will receive an email enabling them to vote online. Those members who do not use email will receive a phone call and will have the opportunity to either vote by phone or have someone come by their home to receive their ballot. Any members who are at least 18 years old are eligible to vote. The constitution stipulates that 75% of the members must approve a new Lead Pastor. Nonmembers who are regular attenders and are at least 18 years old may also vote. Even though, per the constitution, votes by nonmembers won’t count toward the official confirmation numbers, they will help us understand the support of the church and God’s will.

Thank you for your prayers, participation and support through this process. We look forward to what God has planned for Bridges in the future.

With anticipation,

Your Bridges Elders
