If you pay attention to what a person talks about and prays about, you can get a pretty good read on what’s on their mind.

And there are a lot of things that can be on a person’s mind. From fun to work. From happy thoughts to sad thoughts. From conflict and stress to peace. From God’s words to worldly wisdom. From anger and bitterness to love. From despair to hope. From “What college should I go to?” to “What’s for dinner?” You get the idea.

So what does this have to do with you? A lot. The things that are always on your mind are indicators of what’s most important to you in your life. And while there are a lot of things in life that are important in their own way, only a few are most important. Two of those most important things that should always be on our minds as believers, will come into focus as we begin our study today in the book of 2 Timothy. They are two matters that were on the Apostle Paul’s mind, that made him the amazing person he was, even to his dying day.
