In America, many people call themselves Christians. Some are churchgoers, other aren’t. Some read their Bibles, others don’t. Some make prayer a regular habit in their life, others hardly ever give it a thought. Regardless of their practices or lifestyle, about three out of four people in America claim to be Christians.

That might not seem like a big deal, but it is. Especially when you consider Jesus’ clear warning to a “religious” crowd, who thought for sure that heaven was in their future. Jesus gave them pause to think again. That could be us. But hopefully not. Especially if we take to heart the focus of today’s message in our continuing series in the book of 1 John.
