Why Did My Brother Have to Die?

Series: VIEWPOINT

Dave Gudgel - Jan 20, 2013

When tragedy hits, the most natural thing to do is ask why: Why did this happen? To him? To her? At this age? At this time? This doesn’t make sense. I thought God was good. Well this certainly doesn’t look like He is. How can a good God allow bad things to happen to good people?

Certainly the why question was asked when Lazarus died. His death simply didn’t make sense. He was a close friend of Jesus. Someone the Lord loved. Jesus even spent quality time in his home. You have to wonder why him of all people?

If you’re among the multitudes that have struggled with the why question after tragedy hits, this Sunday’s message based on John 11 could be invaluable in helping you make sense of what hasn’t made sense.
