Judy Griffin

Deaconess, Caring/Visits

Judy grew up in South Oklahoma and later Southern California. She met her husband, Jack, at Bethany Baptist Church in Long Beach, California, when he started attending with his family during his junior high, high school, and college years. They were married and started their family there before moving to Sunnyvale in 1978.

They started attending Bridges (then called First Baptist Church of Los Altos) in 1978 and have attended for 44 years. Judy became a member and has served as a Deaconess for about 15 years, serving in the card ministry, followed by senior care, where she loved meeting and serving the seniors, and now the visitation and new babies ministry. Judy and her husband have been active in the Mariners Life Group since 1978. She has also loved attending Bible Study classes since retiring from teaching in 2006.

Judy earned a bachelor's degree in education from Long Beach State College. She worked at Disneyland during her college years, first as a rabbit in the Christmas Toyland parades and then as a ticket seller inside the park and at the Main Gate. After getting her degree, she taught elementary school in the Long Beach Unified School District, and then the Sunnyvale Elementary School District after moving to the Bay Area. She loved her students and teaching Kindergarten, first, and second grades for many years.

Judy and Jack have two children: Michael and Stephanie, and three grandchildren: Christopher (27), Alexandria (16), and Kyleigh (14). She loves visiting her family in Southern California and going on family vacations together.

Judy enjoys walking, reading, cooking healthy food, exercising; watching romantic comedies, sports, and musical shows; going out to lunch and dinner with friends, playing games, spending time with family and friends, and attending our Bridges meetings and activities.
