Still Running Strong

MindShift

It’s been said “It’s not how you start but how you finish.” Do you agree? Maybe not if you’re in the Silicon Valley where starting well is paramount to success. In this area, if you don’t get off to a good start, you’re in big trouble.

A start up, a new adventure, a new relationship, a new baby – all are usually begun with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. But when difficulties, hardships, sleepless nights, unmet expectations, pain, and other troublesome times come along, we find out just how strong our faith and perseverance really are.

This week we examine Paul’s passion to finish well. It wasn’t a last minute addition to his bucket list. Throughout his years as a believer, he focused on the goal that was before him. He never gave up. He kept pressing on. His example can be a great help to us wherever we are in our life’s journey.

This Weeks Sermon: "Living for Eternity”

How often do you think about eternity? Do you approach each day with an eternal perspective, remembering, as the Bible teaches, that this world and the things in it are impermanent? Do you live with hope in your heart, eyes to the future, and hands holding this present world loosely? What if you were able to face the difficulties and disappointments of this life with peace rather than panic, knowing full well that they are intended by God to make us long for the life that is to come?

One of the good things the Bible keeps in front of us is that this is not all there is. There is more to come. The world and everything in it is marching toward eternity, and when we understand that, everything changes.
