Keep the Fire Burning

The List

Fires typically won’t last very long if you don’t carefully tend to them. You need an ample amount of fuel supplies, enough heat to ignite the fuel, and enough oxygen to sustain combustion. Without any one of these three elements, a fire will simply die out.

The same concept is true of us spiritually. Our faith is like a fire, and if not fed or monitored, if taken for granted or ignored, it will begin to fizzle out and grow cold.

If you are a Christ-follower, how can you keep your fire of devotion to God burning strong, particularly when your spiritual fervor and love for God begins to wane?

This Week's Sermon: "Think Outside Yourself"

Every day throughout our lifetime we have hundreds of opportunities to build others up. A kind word, an unexpected deed, a common courtesy, even a simple smile can reap benefits in the lives of those we come in contact with.

The Apostle Paul was big on building others up. It was a recurring theme in his writings and in the way he lived. He truly wanted to see everyone – both within the church and outside the church – become all that God intended for them to be.

Last words often carry immense importance. This Sunday we’ll see some of the last words Paul wrote to the church at Thessalonica in his first letter to them. Words that focus on the “how” of building others up.
