Merit or Mercy? - Luke 18:9-14

“Hate the sin, love the sinner.”

“Cleanliness is next to godliness.”

“God works in mysterious ways.”

“God won’t ever give you more than you can handle.”

“We’re all God’s children.”

While these frequently-uttered phrases sound like they are found in the Bible, they actually are not. But perhaps even more common than these sayings is the phrase, “God helps those who help themselves.”

Scripture, however, teaches us that our help is only found in one place – and it’s not ourselves.

This Week's Sermon: "The Friend at Midnight"

Prayer. Simple enough for a child, yet necessary for all of us, Jesus’ followers requested, “Teach us Lord, to pray.”

Whether you’ve never prayed or you have daily conversations with God, Jesus’ response gives assurance all of our prayers are vital, welcomed, and answered.
