It’s So Like God - Judges 6-8

Miracles

Story after story in the Bible tells of God’s awesome work in the lives of people who found themselves facing a seemingly impossible task. Take Gideon for example: God tapped him on the shoulder for a job that was above his pay grade. From a human perspective, Gideon had no chance of succeeding.

But isn’t that just like God? Isn’t that often His way of creating in us more awe, love, dependence, and more in the relationship God wants to share with us? For His glory and the greater good. That certainly happened in and through Gideon’s life, like it could in ours.

This Week's Sermon: "Do You See What I See?"

When you look at your circumstances today, what do you see? You may be overwhelmed by debt, discouraged by demands you can’t seem to fulfill, or facing an impossible situation.

Whatever your circumstances may be, the prophet, Elisha, had a servant who could relate to what you’re feeling. The servant woke up early one morning and, when he went outside, he looked up and saw an enemy army with horses and chariots surrounding him, and he cried out to Elisha in response, “Oh no! What shall we do?” But while the servant was panicking, Elisha remained completely calm, despite facing the exact same imminent threat.

How can two people experience the same set of circumstances, but one person looks at it with dread while the other faces it with confident peace? The story behind the miracle we’ll look at this week gives us the answer.
