The Path to Greatness - Mark 9:30-50

Gospel of Mark: A Journey of Following Jesus

The world is made up of all kinds of people: dog people and cat people; mountain people and beach people; morning people and evening people; right-brained people and left-brained people; coffee people and anything-but-coffee people. And the list could go on. But among all of the incredible diversity of interests, values, and idiosyncrasies of humans, all of us are strangely similar in one area of interest: self-interest. Self-interest is one of the few things that unifies us as the human race, and it has a more powerful grip and it takes a greater toll on all of us than we could ever imagine.

In the midst of a me-first world, though, Jesus gives us an entirely different example for us to follow.

This Week's Message: "Freedom from Evil" by Pastor Dan Stockum

Demon possession. Not something that the Western world talks about very often outside of horror films. But what if the many other cultures who recognize the existence of such evil have picked up on something that we have missed? What would we need to know about it? How would we recognize it? And how could we get free? This week, we study the longest passage in Scripture describing a demon possession and the liberation that Jesus brings.

Scripture Focus: Mark 5:1-20
