Thank God for courageous people. Do you know some? Firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and a myriad of others are included in that group. They put themselves in harm’s way for the well-being of others.

Would you call yourself courageous? You need to be. God longs for you to be. God even made it possible for you to be courageous. More courageous than you are right now.

This week we zero in on courage. Why does it matter? Where does it come from? What’s needed to have it in greater measures than we already do?

This Week: "Filled With Allegiance"

Loyalty or commitment of a subordinate to a superior or of an individual to a group or cause.

Most of us have made pledges of some kind. Frat pledges. Fund Raising pledges. Bible pledges. Scout pledges. Professional pledges. Sobriety pledges. Internet safety pledges. And of course we as citizens of the United States have pledged our allegiance to America.

Allegiance isn’t something we do much talking about today, but maybe we should. It’s an expression of loyalty, dedication, commitment, devotion, sacrifice, and much more.

The early church demonstrated serious allegiance to the cause of Christ. So much so that it got them in trouble at times. But it was a good trouble. This Sunday we’ll see why as we continue our study in the book of Acts.
