Over and Done

Time For A Change

Think back to the last time you said, “I’m over that.” “I’m done with that.” “I’m moving on.” Did you move on? Were you done? Did you cut your losses? Burn some bridges?

If you’ve ever deliberately put something in the past, you know how tough and yet rewarding it can be to move on. Letting go of something that’s brought you pleasure isn’t easy, but when faced with the promise of a better future, it only makes sense. Especially when it comes to cutting ties with “the old life.”

This week we’ll get an up close look at the “old life” everyone would do well to say good riddance to. Want a hint? It has nothing to do with your age.

This Week's Sermon: "Don’t Just Do it”

Life is filled with roles and responsibilities. Take a moment and think of the ones you’re tasked with: Dad, mom, child, student, employer, employee, parent, friend, Christ-follower, developer, fixer... The list goes on and on.

So how are you doing with doing the things you are responsible to do? Are you accomplishing a lot? Moving forward? Enjoying the ride? On the verge of a breakthrough and not a breakdown? Are you getting things done?

Unfortunately, Nike's advice to “just do it" isn't really enough according to God. Even if you are getting a lot done, you still might be missing out on what matters the most in what we do. What that is will be our focus this Sunday in our continuing series in the book of Colossians.
