Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae was written around AD 60-61. His letter was written in response to a growing type of false teaching in the church which led people to believe Jesus Christ was not divine, so not equal to God the Father.

The particular verses we’ll look at today from Colossians chapter 3 allow Paul to call the church not to extended argument and fighting, but to peace, membership in one body, thankfulness, encouragement, admonishment, singing to one another and God, and to give thanks to God in all things.
