Sometimes life hurts. We wish it didn’t. We’d like it to always be the best of times, and never the worst of times. We’d like life to be happy and pleasant and peaceful and fulfilling, all of the time. But it’s not.

The Bible tells us that while we are living in this fallen world, sometimes life will hurt. And all of us together are in one of those times right now, as we wait for the world to be done with the coronavirus and for life to get back to some kind of normal.

But thankfully, the Bible also tells us that when we are living in a time of sorrow, and waiting for that time to end, it’s possible to live with joy – deep, abiding, seemingly inconceivable joy. For everyone who could use a good dose of that joy right now, our message from God’s Word this Sunday will remind us where it’s found.
